early morning
i’ve given up on the alarm clock for now because the light in our flat is so bright and pretty it makes waking up easy. easy enough to put the last of the wine glasses away from yesterday’s lunch, a little reading and even more time under sheets before waking properly to a new week. do you do that as well? wake up early and go back to sleep for a few more winks?
yesterday’s lunch was great. and it was even better after lj and i stopped manically cleaning the flat and cooking for a tribe, a tribe of 16 who came bearing gifts of cupcake books, storage containers, platters and carving sets. lj did his best to pretend the gifts were for sharing, but we knew the truth. we went the traditional route of a sri lankan fare, which means more dishes than there was room on the table and dessert was easy-peasy with make-your-own-pavolvas; mini vanilla and chocolate meringues piled high, self serve bowls of cinnamon cream and sliced kiwi fruit, raspberries and strawberries. a very good sunday if you ask me.

Yes, I do. I love feeling there is time to go back to bed again and I love lounging around just enjoying the morning. I don’t use an alarm clock anytime during the year, mostly there is enough light and in any case I program my head to wake up on time. Do you ever do that?
I like the look of that lunch! 16 people is a LOT, well done. Dessert must have been delicious. I love having lots of smaller dishes, taking a bit of this and a bit of that…

In winter I like to wake up early, have a shower, then get back into bed. I love that its fully light at 6am, even in my room which faces south and is often really dark.
Lunch sounds wonderful! I was thinking about a chocolate pavolva with strawberries and raspberries and dark chocolate drizzled on top the other day :)
