fika on flickr
with thanks to sandra i have been noticing more moments of fika through photographs from my flickr contact list. here are a few::

top: 1. tea, in my favourite iittala mugs, 2. a pastry,
middle: 3. meet up, 4. cup of the day,
bottom: 5. untitled, 6. hard choice
more small meals which should always include a cup of tea or coffee::
any more to add to the list? i have fond memories of morning tea time at school, which we often called recess or little lunch taken between 10:15am and 10:30. sometimes the school would sell lamingtons for 25c. i think this is what i shall have today!
mmm fika… nice to read about other fika-like words. a less sexy in-between-meals-word in swedish is “mellanmål” (middle-dish). kids use to have mellanmål when they come home from school waiting for dinner.
I love this post! We used to have a ‘frosty bite’ when we came out of the sea as children - a little snack to warm us up again. And at school we had miniature bottles of milk with a straw and either a doughnut or chelsea bun for our elevenses. We had little books of ‘bun tickets’ with which to pay for them.

I think it is so funny how the word “fika” has spread all over the world! It seems that nowadays you can actually say “fika” to just about anyone, and they would probably understand you. Isn’t that amazing? I wonder if it is a blog phenomenon…
