thursday doings

well, you must forgive me. i kind of went off this week as soon as the heat hit super early. i would be pleased if it just stayed like this for the rest of the year, but summer in sydney is bound to get even hotter. eeep! i’ve been placating my anti-summer heart with ice cream and salads and today while i was finishing off the shoe organisation (60 pairs cut down to 40, all boxed and back in shelves!) the home ice cream truck came barreling down the street, inside the driver was ringing a bell to announce his arrival. we came away with a tub of butterscotch and a box of fruit icepoles. quite nice company for magazine flipping on a thursday afternoon.

in the middle of deep cleaning my shoe collection i packed up a repair bag and walked up the street to the cobbler. he took one look at my pile of shoes and said, “you need to really pick which ones you want to save here”. now you’d think with his experience as a cobbler, asking that of a woman, never mind a woman who looks like she has just given up her first born, would be downright mad. but with experience comes bravery and in the end he was right. those black flats with buckles could never be saved, and the yellow glitter flats will never see the shimmery wonder they were a few summers ago. but my boots, the ones which took me to new york and montreal, the ones which i wear every winter will be saved with a lotta cobbler work. hurrah!

and as these things go, i believe i have found the perfect summer sandal via charlotte. too cute!
