toppings

with 9 comments

i’m a bit of a toppings nut. i have new ‘favourites’ which stay on toast and pizza bases until a new combo comes through the ranks. here are some recent toppings; oldies but good’uns which always get back on rotation after a while.

new favourite

for breakfast: ricotta with blueberry jam

thursday dinner

for thursday dinner: avocado and broccoli pizza (with homemade tomato sauce)

what’s yours?

  2. i really like cream cheese and any sweet berry jam on toast, and i love roast pumpkin and fetta bruschetta, with a drizzle of olive oil and cracked pepper. oh oh and on steak, i cannot go past green peppercorn sauce… there’s something about those little peppercorns popping in your mouth, and the heat they have that is so different to black peppercorn, that really gets me.
    now i’m a little peckinsh…

  3. Raspberry jam and butter on toast, tastes like you’re having scones with jam and clotted cream.

  4. On a toast I really enjoy butter and honey (or any other jam… although i’m picky with jams… cherries and berries)… on a pizza it would be peppers, pineapple and mushrroms!

  5. ooh your pizza looks delicious!

i love toppings too. i put nuts (any kind) in/on all sorts of things. e.g. almonds in smoothies, cashews in stirfries, walnuts on desserts.

  6. I’m quite a purist (or just lazy). I often have bread neat, nothing at all. But when I’m in an embellishing mood, black sesame paste is my favourite. As for pizzas, just classics like margherita or fiorentina. Boring but good. I’ve never associated avocado with pizzas, interesting…

  9. I’ve just recently realized how much I love mashed avocado on toast. With salt and freshly ground black pepper.
