fast moving week

it has been so busy in the evening around here, with working back late and not having time for much at all. however when it came time to sleep, i found myself in the kitchen baking. i have been wanting to do something other than sitting infront of a computer screen and click-clicking. first there were two dozen oatmeal and cranberry cookies {tuesday night}, then two dozen honey madeleines {wednesday night} and then mushroom tartlets {thursday night}. even though my stress levels and work hours didn’t seem to decrease, lj and people at work were pretty happy each morning.

tonight we went to see spiderman 3. lj is a big fan of the comic book and i’m a big fan of new york, so it all worked out for both of us. shelterrific mentioned the peter parker’s apartment earlier this week, so i paid extra attention to all those details. details like the lamps by his bed and on his study - so lovely! i quite liked the front facade of mary jane’s apartment and the small stairs which led from the entrance door to the front room.

tomorrow morning i’ll be baking a second batch honey madeleines from stephanie alexanders cookbook. the recipe for these cakes remind me of cakes from my childhood. there a delicious stage of melting honey and butter together and allowing it to cool. in the end you have this thick syrupy mixture which is added to the dry ingredients. the baked result is really very good, and as soon as i test out the recipe for the second time i shall share it with you.
