just two things
:: i’ve given up on the delicate plants and now have a few pots of succulents, ferns and this beauty: a chrysanthemum which i hope i’ll be able to use as a starting point for table arrangements.
:: kind bowb brought a duo pack of pear & vanilla macaron to the lunch time picnic yesterday { fruit juice, lamb and harissa sausage rolls from bourke street bakery, bbq pork bun for the little girl and a quince tart with hot beverages in}. and wow, these were so delicious this morning with a cup of soy milk tea. it’s my way of easing into a dairy free regime. just a little at a time.
ok, well a few more::
- port2port’s card society birthday and useful bits. such loveliness
- at the neutral store
- beautiful fabric by a melbournian {hooray for local etsy shops!}
new read/see
hey, thanks for all the suggestions. i will take them to my library this weekend and see what i come back with. i’ve also found some new blogs to read and see. i hope you find them as lovely as i do::
it was through fine little thing that i came across these amazing photographs by pancho tolchinsky::

plates + a good read

last thursday in between voicemails and meetings i stepped out for a dose of subshine. after my walk around the park i stopped by the local op shop for a quick look. it had been a while and i only had a few dollars in my pocket. lucky though, because a beautiful set of noritake cake plates where there, secured together with a bit of tape and a $4 price-tag. sunshine and beautiful prints on plates.
it’s been quiet here. i’m still enjoying a relatively tech-free evenings at home, taking my time reading the paper offline, catching up with friends and cooking at least three times a week before take-out becomes an option. on saturday, after walking up the shops and buying up k-marts worth of woolen stocking, i stopped by the library. i was lost, going from shelf to shelf because nothing was really leaping at me. i came away with dvd’s and some delicious mags, so i wonder: does anyone have any suggestions for a good read? i am open to topics, but would rather fiction for a little escapism.
some visual inspirations for the evening:
which brings me to: still enough time for a cuppa and reading the paper before bed. good night!
daily serving

the week is over and it seems that the tech detox is kinda continuing. this week has been so busy that i’ve barely had time to even think about all the things i have yet to do. but that’s what next week is for right?
today is saturday and shortly i will be heading out, back to work to finish off a few things. its so beautiful outside that it leaves me feeling just short of pathetic, but at least come tomorrow i’ll be able to sleep in without that sinking feeling of a hectic week ahead. although i was busy at work yesterday i needed to step out during my lunch break. i found myself on a bus as soon as i had decided this, and then infront of the busy bakery girls at lüneburger. it was a tough choice between the champion bread and the sunflower seed loaf, but in the end i was rewarded with a mighty loaf (1kg!) of rye studded with plenty of sunflower seeds. as i was paying for my weekend loaf, i spotted a most alluring tray of cake; chocolate cherry cake with butter crumble topping i was told. and soon i was able to convince myself that sharing the slice with lj for dessert later on would not hinder my exercise routine.
oh that cake was so good. the cherries plump. the chocolate, not too chocolatey which was ok by me because i was really there for the tart cherries.
and the bread, so assuring in its weight, its very good toasted with my daily serving of cheese, a burnt orange mild cheddar. yum.
