the women of sydney have gone mad! now, i know i shouldn’t be making general sweeping statements about the mindset of all women who live in sydney, but a granny was walking out of a target store with bags of stella mccartney gear! does she know ebay? god bless the woman who made it a point to say that stella brought her to target for the first time ever, for she made me laugh out loud this afternoon. and god bless the woman who told the reporter that out west in liverpool, target shoppers were a civil and orderly bunch, kindly waiting their turn to purchase their designer goods at reasonable prices, because she made me laugh too.

around early february i got the drift that target was heading down the cheery consumer path of h&m. at the leichardt store there was a mural of benetton-esque models, looking all harmonious and happy to be in touches of red next to a slogan which read something along the lines of everyone had the right to dress well, live well and eat well. you know, happy consumerism for all with a designer look.

i just wish i had the energy to pop into the establishment this friday night and see all the office girls in their stella mccartney, looking all the same. but i wont, i’ll be at home with a mug of hot chocolate wearing real target and feeling quite chuffed that trying on a pair of spotty gumboots at k-mart is more than i can take at this stage of my non-fashionable existence.
